My name is Kim. I am 23 year's old, originally from South Africa. I moved to Melbourne 2 years ago to study and be with my partner whom I met in Johannesburg.
I have 5 years of experience; my first job as a babysitter was the year after I graduated high school. Through this family I was recommended to other families and in time found myself gravitating more towards childcare as a part-time job. I have 5 years of experience; my first job as a babysitter was the year after I graduated high school. Through this family I was recommended to other families and in time found myself gravitating more towards childcare as a part-time job. I have worked in retail and hospitality but I can't think of anything better than spending time with kids. I don't see it as a job!
I have always been instinctively maternal; kids have always naturally gravitated towards me and I have always had a natural instinct of care.
I am still in contact with some of the kids I have taken care of in the past and those who are still based in Australia would invite me to their birthday parties.
I love having fun but I also know where to draw the line when it comes to getting things done. I do, however, implement these kinds of things in a creative and soft way. I remember how much I hated rules so I always try to figure out the best possible way for kids to have fun whilst completing chores or homework etc.
I have taken care of babies as young as 6 months, toddlers and older kids aged up until 11. Although I don't have any degree I do take a keen interest in early child development and I always teach kids new things wherever I can. I am constantly researching childhood development and how adult behaviour influences that.
A bit more about myself;
I did ballet for 14 years , I can play the piano, I am fluent in both English and Afrikaans and I am currently learning Spanish. I love music, I love art and I love being fit and active. 
I am well organised and well structured. I live a very minimalistic life and I prefer reading books more than hanging out with people- though I am not antisocial :)
I am studying a Bachelor of Communication in Media & Journalism. I was meant to do an internship this year but obviously I couldn't because of COVID-19.I was also bound to volunteer at the Royal Children's hospital but that sadly has not worked out either.
I am very flexible.My partner and I have of course been isolating- we are renovating our apartment so have had no reason to go out and about. I live in Fitzroy North, I have a car if you are a bit further away from the city.
I have a valid WWC and a police check, along with references.
I have a positive energy, joy and creativity to bring along as well!!
I am extremely pet friendly! I mean that in a broad sense as I once cared for a 9 year old girl and her bearded dragon!
I don't smoke.
I love cooking and baking so to have the opportunity to cook and bake for your family would give me great joy. When it comes to young babies I have a great experience in meal preparation for babies and toddlers above 6 months.
I am looking for a family that will be transparent with me about everything and that will give me the feeling that I can be the same in return. I am very adaptable and easy going so can always provide support during unexpected delays or emergencies.
